Big Catch

We took Only Child on his first fishing trip this week. We packed a picnic after work and headed to the lake in our neighborhood...the one we drive by every day and rarely stop to appreciate.

With a new Sponge Bob fishing rod, a gift from Aunt Denise, we headed out on a Tuesday night with some stale bread and hot dogs for bait.

Guess what? They bit.

We were also entertained by a family of ducks and a tenacious little turtle that kept hanging around begging us to throw Fritos into the water and making us all laugh.

These are the moments we live for.

Fishing is serious business

I really should take my boys fishing. I did it all growing up and I've never taken them. Love the pics.

This is so perfect! I love that it is a lake you pass by frequently and rarely stop to enjoy. A great reminder : ) And how cute is your son. Oh my : )

That little one looks just like you - especially the 2nd one when he's wearing that big grin :o)

And fishing is serious business - did you keep the fish or throw is back in? It looked pretty dead, so I imagine you probably kept it!

Oh, we threw threw 'em all back! (They were all tiny and I wouldn't know what to do with whole fish anyway.)

You're telling me stale bread and hot dogs will work? I will send these along with Hubs next time! Heck, maybe I'll even accompany them. We'll see....I debate between convincing myself he likes his alone time with the boys and being part of the action. :) Only Child had a great catch!

How fun! Won't it be great when daddy takes the boys on a fishing trip and mom gets to stay home to have a spa weekend! I encourage this activity 100%!

That is totally cool. And my son would love that fishing rod. We're having a Spongebob 6th bday party next month.
