So I want to ask, would you trade your current digs for debt-free living in a cute trailer like this?
What if you could park that trailer on the edge of Lake Travis or in Vail, Colorado and work part-time as a park ranger -- or something else fun and impractical that pays in lifestyle-benefits?
I've been reading my brother's blog in earnest. He and his wife are in the Peace Corp stationed in Kyrgyzstan (which is roughly between Afghanistan and China.) The living conditions are "deadening", the cold is brutal, there is no hot water for showers, in fact, he's worried about having enough water to drink. The outhouse at home is on unstable ground and could collapse, he fears.
They were gifted a free night at the Hyatt in the nearest big city last weekend. Well, it recharged them body and soul to keep up the important work they were sent to do.
I think this cozy, humble little trailer would look like a 4 star palace to them. Wait, I am thinkin' it looks pretty sweet to me, here in suburbia.

I saw the same stinking article in Country Living that she did. And honestly...not being fesicious in any way...I stopped worrying about retirement. I can live in a trailer on an acre IF I can decorate like they are doing. My in-laws do it. It is fine. And you do own everything out right. Which leaves just enough money to cover doctor visits and meds!
The problem doing it with kids is the commute. We'd never see my husband if he had to drive that far.
I've learned, it doesn't matter where you live but how you live :) I think the trailer looks great :)

See, the thing is, if you live in trailerwise, the Mr. wouldn't have to work such long hours. He could part-time cashier at the nearest 7-11 or whatnot.

Thanks so much for the kind words about our trailer! I am honored that you linked to me. We so love our little "cottage" in the country. Downsizing really does mean you can relax in so many ways and just enjoy life. Living in suburbia was hard because of the pressure to keep in line with the neighborhood association's rules! Out here, my rambling cottage garden is perfectly kosher, and I don't have to fret if the kids' bikes and trikes are all over the back yard! ;-) Thanks again for the lovely blog post and link!
